11 meter is very quiet?

A little bit of skip rolling in on 38 LSB around noon Mountain time (1900Z) on Saturday 3/13 before the time change, but wasn't able to work any with the barefoot mobile Uniden 980SSB into a tailgate-mounted 102 inch whip. Sounded like all "big gun" base stations talking to one another.

I lived in Albuquerque about 30 years ago, sure is beautiful country. Its really neat to see old cars from the 50s and 60s driving down the road on a regular basis. Dry climate and no salt on the roads in the winter is easy on the cars for sure. The wife and I are going on a road trip when we retire. Thanks man for bringing back some great memories!

A bit off-topic, but the National Street Rod Association hosted a "Route 66" hotrod show held at the state fair / exposition center in Albuquerque. First annual was back in 2019, 2nd annual show will be this summer Aug. 27-29, COVID permitting. They had 500+ cars registered for the first annual back in 2019.

Think your “CH 6” 3kW mobile amp system might mess with a few fuel injection computers?
I've got a pretty good setup, but how does one keep the antenna aluminum elements from melting once they start arcing (time mark 0:57 in the video below)? Liquid helium closed-cycle refrigeration? If that's the case, need yet another alternator to power the antenna cooling system.

I don't think I would want to be within 100 ft of those guys when they are on the key. I wonder what his SWR was when he was making plasma?
