Any artist out there?

been working flint for almost 40 years , frustrating hobby but has it's rewards, blacksmithing is pretty satisfying
I've seen an ol boy chip out an arrowhead once, that's a talent that's very rare these days, or at least it seems it would be. That's great work. I've lived in Oklahoma almost 40 years and I've yet to find an arrowhead, but then again I can barely find an Easter egg. :)

... you know?

You made a comment earlier...

I would have loved to have gone to art school but I do enjoy drawing,

Be thankful that you didn't...

Many a budding artist was duped by a "farm school" wanting to train others on how to draw,

There were hidden "clauses"
  • - so they could get a commission for submitting artwork in a shorter time to complete
  • - you volunteered (Or paid) your time to learn
  • - they taught you what to use and what to draw,
  • - Then when you think you're graduated, you may have got a certificate,
  • But, they got their money, you simply were embedded in a long list of "Credits" (ever watch the ending of a movie as those credits roll along?) if the movie or work ever got published by them...
    • You may get mentioned - if you did such work, but little else in ROI, unless you joined a union to represent - then may have got more work - if the executive producer(s) tapped that individual for more submissions later in another production and they remembered you.
  • - in some instances they left you stranded with broken feelings of wasted time and bitter endings of a potential career and sometimes a very big bill with no leads to other venues.
  • Liberal Arts - anyone? (Trillions of dollars are made leaving the individuals with that debt)
    • Am I saying it's wrong? Only if you're left feeling "enslaved" by having to be forced to work...
    • Am I saying It's right? Only if it provides a clear path to a better, more rewarding, career...
    • These are personal choices, - no one can ever get the blame for doing this, but the "wrong" comes into play if you're not given credit for your efforts.
when I do draw time flys buy, I can kill 4 or 5 hrs and not even realize it. I need to draw more often.

That is what makes the artist what they are, a moment to reflect, to communicate with a portion of their skills that many have yet to learn how to complete the "circuit" and use.

It's a rare talent and ability - especially when you're gifted with much of the inherited wiring network completed so all you have to do is practice...
