Is this an ok mod to do? Cutting the trace and adding a switch?
If using pin 13 for channels 41-44 the channels come up on these channels.
Chnl. 33-41
Chnl. 34-42
Chnl. 35-43
Chnl. 36-44
When using pin 13 to get channels 41-44 no bridge resistor is required.

Thanks for the link, I was searching google for mb8719 channel mods, and I came across a thread from 2005 coppers forum... both ways were mentioned, which is the better way pin 13 or 14? Some people where saying don’t use pin 14?

That might have something to do with the RCI PLLs, but this was done back in the day LONG before those came into existence.

Did you do this to a later model (Chinese) or an earlier model like a Philippine or Malaysian made one and does it even matter?
I did it to this one I sold a few years ago. Don't might the end, I had been stupid sick and it took longer to get the radio done than I had anticipated.

For some reason the video link is saying that it's private and will not allow me to view.

It should work now. I changed it to unlisted.

Yup it certainly did that time. Well hell yeah that's one sweet little setup you have there my friend. Love them shiny little birdies for sure making me a bit jealous lol. Well there's a fella that sells what's left of the Expo kits and he's got a nice 5 position rotary switch nicely wired into a ribbon cable that I'm gonna grab and try to throw it into this Chinese 148. I know, I know everyone says that they're crap but honestly I don't mind it. I recapped it and replaced all the resistors to 1/4w cuz I already had a ton of surplus components sitting around. The radio took nicely to the standard reciever upgrade. 12db Sinad @ 111.4 dbm on AM and 12db Sinad @ 126.1dbm on SSB. I was impressed with that. Good audio reports as well so I'm not sold that these Chinese radios suck. With a little tlc they're ok in my book. How did you do the clarifier unlock? 10kc up and down? That's crazy!
