Yes sir . Like I said it received just cab here very very faint. And has same noise on all channels were as my other radios the noise is all over the place high or low as I change channels.hope it just needs aligned

Ok, you have a 949 with "faint" receive...

rf gain turned all the way up?

Like I said it received just cab here very very faint.

There's two answers to this - you only gave one.

So I'll ask specific so we can then work on one of two directions...

What does your S-Meter (Your Receive meter) show?

Flat line, or does the needle move?

If the Needle moves, the problem is most likely in the Audio side (audio amp) - even speaker. < 1 Direction

IF the Needle doesn't move, you have a lot more ground-searching you'll have to cover for bad/cold soldering joints may be your problem. << 2nd (More intense) Direction - Starting at the Antenna Connector.

I don't remember where on this forum I read where the internal speaker wire was pinched between the radio cover and the chassis which interfered with the receive volume.

No I’m sure the needle moves up with receive.

Then your problem possibly lies within several places - dealing with the front panel.

A 949 uses a board to mount the Pots - like RF gain, Volume Squelch and others - on a board much like a riser card - so if the connections to, from, or in, that riser board are bad, you'll have conditions like this.

Lots' of Pots, and lots of point contacts and riser headers - leading to potentially poor / cold solder joints and even loose headers/

So you might want to investigate, or send it in for repair. The latter may be the easier option.

Had the same issue once on a galaxy and after lots of troubleshooting turned out to be on the mic jack pcb. On the mic jack pcb there are ceramic disc capacitors, one was rubbing up against the chassis and after a while the coating was rubbed through to where it was contacting with the aluminum. Strange but true. In my case it was noticed by simply wiggling the mic jack and hearing the volume change. It's a shot to look at it anyway.

Update::::: so weird as hell. I’m thinking hell let’s try the stock galaxy mic that came with the 949. My Skythumper I use on all my radios is 4 pin as well. Wouldn’t you know the galaxy mic plugged in I have normal lively recieve and I can here it well. WTH would my 4 pin skythumper be wired differently??? It’s paired with my comp cobra 29
