I helped a friend mount a Maco 5000 that replaced an Antron 99 which has a SWR of 1.2. Have helped put up these Maco 5000 antennas before with no problems. We could not get the SWR below 2.5 on the Maco no matter what we did. Maco is at same height 36 feet and in same spot as the Antron. At the end of the day we put the Antron back up and the SWR returned to 1.2. His home is under high voltage lines and his antenna is less than 100 feet from these. Since the Maco is anuminum and the Antron fiberglass is that the issue for Maco's high SWR?

Thanks for your input Long Night

What are you using to measure VSWR?

Try disconnecting the antenna end of the coax and attaching a KNOWN GOOD dummy load that has the same impedance as the coax.

What's wrong with a 1.2:1 VSWR?
