With one of the current threads being focused on a Cobra 25GTL.... I just got nosy and did some looking around.....

If you look for 21GTL and 21LTD.... both of them wind up pointing to SAMS#207.

So I went and looked at it......

What you find when you get to SAMS CB-207 is Cobra 21GTL & Cobra25GTL.... but no Cobra 21LTD.

If anyone knows..... what would have been the difference between a 21GTL and 21LTD?

Was it literally just a distinct model number for the "time period" that they were marketed? Or were there usually any functional differences?

Thanks in advance!
Bob

the gtl had a anl switch the ltd had a emergency 9 switch so to me there had to be something different in the circuitry somewhere,,,,

When in doubt - look for images - eBay is a good source

I had to look this up too...

Fun little facts...

The one on the LEFT is the GTL - has ANL
The one on the Right, is the LTD - has LO-DX switch - ANL is built-in.

So one uses switchable ANL(GTL) - the other has Built in ANL but to help with RF gain issues, it provides a Local / DX (Distance) Receive gain switch(LTD) - look at that in that schematic link.

LTD - Uses a Receive RF Amp design similar to Galaxy - per another thread.

GTL uses a Receive RF Amp design similar to a PC-66/68 and Cobras' 25 - series.
