Had a restless night and was up at 3am this morning. Began the morning as usual. Bathroom stop, house coat, Olight Baton 3 left pocket, Sig 365 right pocket (10 + 1 with Winchester RA9TA 127grain +P+) spare mag left front pocket and Benchmade Infidel front right pants pocket. Walked to the kitchen started the coffee pot and proceeded to let my 3 yr old Chocolate Labador Bear outside on the tether, with my hands in each pocket on my EDC’s…Olight 3 Baton and Sig 365. Just as I’m walking towards the street to survey my surroundings I saw a shadow coming from the corner of our Ford Explore out of my peripheral vision…about the same time Bear starts growling/barking. Immediately I pulled both EDC’s from my pocket and in a low strong commanding voice said, “come out where I can see you.” Backing away from the vehicle to widen the distance between whatever it was and me I started to sweep the end of the vehicle. No I didn’t BLADE. Mean while Bear continues growling. The shadow is still there and hasn’t moved. As I clear the end of the vehicle with light on and gun sights clear…there he is at the driver side rear tire couched down…my neighbors German shorthair pointer Jake. After stomping my foot and telling him to scram off he goes into the night.

After breathing a sigh of relief I realized during this entire encounter that there was no elevated pulse or shaking hands from an adrenaline rush. Amazing how years of training takes over in those moments.

Walked back into the house, gave my dog an “Atta boy”, dog treat and pat on the head. By this time the coffee was done and I was chuckling.

I just noticed this thread or I would have replied sooner. This is not a bs story this actually occurred in the manner that the truth is goofier that fiction. In days long past, I carried a 4 inch heavy barrel Model 10 in my pickup. I picked it up as police surplus when all dept's were moving to semi's. Back to the story. My next door neighbors were on vacation. I get home at 1am from work to find a pickup parked in from of their house with a driver, engine running. This is not an area where vehicles are parked on the street. I retrieved the Model 10 and carefully walked around my the outside of my neighbors house looking for flashlights shining. I did not see anyone in the house. I start heading back to my house and just then someone in the passenger seat of the pick up truck sits up. I then realized that it was the lady from two houses down the street entertaining her boyfriend after a date. The couple parked up the street in front of my neighbors so her family would not notice.

Around here the blink cameras catch coons, possums, skunks and foxes on the porch almost nightly and that's enough to freak out my señorita. Can't imagine a bear coming around, shoot the wife and kids would never go outside haha.

@secret squirrel that's a good one dude, you'd be amazed what we see from the windows of our class 8 trucks! I've seen my share of seat covers performing extracurricular activities. Just ask @Slowmover, I'm sure he's got a story or two similar to yous as well.
