Hi. I bought a HY-GAIN 14 CB knowing it did not work. I am not real savy on electronics but am slowly learning as I go. It has a small power pcb board that contains a fuse, a large 2200 uF 35 volt cap, a power transistor and a protection diode. The cap looked like it might have leaked at some point in time so I replaced it. Put in a new fuse also. Still won't power on. The protection diode looks good, no flaking or burnt pieces. The on/off switch checks out good too. Should I replace the power transistor next?
Thanks for any help with this,
Long Night

You should have say 12 to 15 volts across capacitor C1 on the power regulator board, this would verify the AC power in, transformer, and diodes. If there is no voltage across C1 then the diodes or transformer may be bad. Check for AC voltage coming out of the transformer feeding the diodes. Good luck.
