X treme 2018 mic

But for those who play AM and want the best of the best echo, power mic, noise cancelling, and talkback mic, the 2018 mic is by far the best IMO.

Even if you do not use the other features, the power mic portion itself stands head and shoulders above the rest. Even beat the Astatic 575 IMO, as it was clearer and punchier with a better freq response. The echo portion doesn't scrimp on quality either, since it uses a top grade digital chip to synthesize echo, and is not muddy or adding distortion like the Galaxy units. The noise cancelling part of it works and has an on/off switch; but it is not the best feature in it. If you want a better N/C mic; you could do better.

Not exactly rare to find, but if you compare it to other mics with similar feature for 1/2 the price, it solidly puts the boot in their rears. It isn't cheap and there are a few sellers that have a few in stock, but they go for a ridiculous sum.

I no longer have one myself, as I traded it for a mobile antenna. Too bad they still don't make them new, as it was a real goer.
Thanks Robb for the great mic...its still going strong!!!

The rolling base station stealth antenna (predator comp. 10k) has been long gone...currently using a Wilson 5000 through the roof and does the job...
skip is rolling today so, I have been waiting for you to key up so we can have a long distance radio check !! propagation is from west to east currently and not in our favor south to north...maybe later tonight!!

There are plenty of dynamic mics used for professional vocals that do not require phantom power. I'm not going to try reasoning with you. You are bringing irrelevant b.s. up about compressors and downward expanders to look like you know something.
Are you just trying to be argumentative or do you just think you have to get the last word in? I know your not stupid and you clearly understand what I meant. Unless you want me to treat you like a 16 year and "qualify" my statement to be idiot proof and wiggle room proof like one does with teenager's! I have a 19 year old son and two 16 year old sons I could you treat you like a kid I do know how to do it! First I never said you had to have an electret mic to do vocals but 99.9% of people that get paid as their day job to sing or do voice over work use eletret condenser mic's most in the $400-$4000 range with $400 being mostly low-end mom and pop types and people just getting started. Even on really loud things like kick drums you will see mostly electrets. Now broadcasting types that like the sound of Electro Voice RE20 especially males with deep voices sometimes go for them. They need a lot more help though from the audio guys to sound good most dynamics mics are rather lifeless sounding like the SHure 58 and RE20. Most Camera equipment used by TV crews and the like need a much hotter signal than most dynamics can produce. In fact EV came out with their neodynium line to deal with this because the older tried and true designs that had been used for decades was just not a good match for modern electronics that wanted to see a hotter signal.

What was it 1966 when the Neumann U87 was released to the market? It has been the gold standard for just about everything from vocals to instruments in a studio setting. Dynamic mics have been low rent since that day! IN fact every modern cell phone, call center headset, aviation head sets for the last 40 years at the very least have been electret.

Very few professionals use dynamic mic's today definitely less than 2%. It is just too difficult to get the colors and nuisances from the voice and instruments reproduced with them. Now if you are just going to lip sink on stage it does not matter. Dynamic mic's are great in noisy environments or where you need a really rugged device that can take being abused. In top of that dynamic mics have to be very large and do not lend themselves to light weight headsets, aviation helmets, clipped to music instruments for live performance on stage like to a Cello or trumpet. I use both on radio's. Do not drink the kool-aid that Heil Microphones is selling he has a very biased outlook on microphones that the industry in general does not mirror!

If I read a post that I believe contains false information I will comment on it. I don't care how many kids you have it has nothing to do with this. Being able to procreate doesn't make you smart.

Supposedly the story goes that Eric shipped a few cases to one of the distributors and a few shops got a limited supply. That came from the really nice fellow I spoke with a GI Joe's. He said they have a good relationship with lesco and was able to get more than the limit so the reason they still have some left.
No telling how long they've been tucked away or if they're new production.... who knows but they're legit and the one I received works just as good as previous ones.

Ok..are these mics that good or just a frenzy to have one?
I recently got one because I wanted to find out. Listening to myself on my stock Cobra 148 monitor radio with headphones and no antenna, I put it up against the d104m6b with the resistor clipped for more bass. What I found is that the m6b has a sound that is more clear than the 2018. Not that the 2018 sounds bad, the m6b is just better. And a condenser mic sounds better than the m6b in the same way.

I recently got this Aries power mic with a Cobra 25 that I bought. It has an amazing sound of clarity, it must be a condenser but I haven't checked. Only $25 at most places, and tons of gain if needed. But it doesn't have echo.....
