I thought I'd throw this out there, figuring no one has this info but who knows without asking.

I would like to get the schematics diagram/service data for the CB am/ssb base model 641 (PLL module)...

Might someone have that please ?

73's thanks for looking, Retro

Thanks appriciate it Tecnicoloco, but there is no schematics there of the actual sardene tin can PLL module which is filled with tons of components, that would take a long time to reverse engineer...

SAMS photofact relevant to this radio doesn't have it either nor does the users manual...

There is mention on a website supposedly the Royce 632 mobile is the same, but I can't confirm that yet, if anybody else can let me know please !

Did you ever find out if the 1-632 PLL schematic was the same as for the PLL in the 1-641?

Thats a bummer... I thought they were the same. I believe the mixing crystals are the same. I found a schematic for the 632 PLL online and it shows the same crystals as the 641 unit. If I ever get my hands on one of the 641 PLLs that isn't butchered, I will make a schematic for it. I recently finished the 621 PLL schematic.

Okay so I have the schematics diagram for the 641, I'm attaching it. Maybe I'm off base some, let me know.

I was referring to the sealed PLL unit schematic (the thing that is just a square in the middle of that radio schematic. I think the PLL unit is the same as the 632.

Okay missed that... But in your assumption you are correct to a point. Because they used a few different PLL's. Would be one of these: TC5080/TC5081/TC5082/M58473P

The 621 in front of me and the 632 from the online schematic both use the M58473P. I was unaware that they used different ones. Was the PLL chip choice a "by the year" sort of thing or would all 621's have the same PLL? I don't know how long they made these things...

Edit: I just received an email from a very notable tech that claims the 632 and the 641 use the same PLL unit. So the schematic for the 1-632 should be the right one for that 641 you have! He shared with me his schematic, I will go take a look at it right now.

Yeah I've got like 3 Royce 641's, one used to work well. Got one recapped and it's still lacking. Pffft so I kinda gave up on those bastards LOL. Might get the DDS put in one.

I seen a few videos where the problem was with the mechanical SSB filter, something to check out if the power is nearly zero on tx.

On the 621 I am working on, the PLL had the 10.24MHz signal, but the only other signal was about 38.5MHz. After making the schematic, I realized why. The 28.5MHz was coming from the VCO oscillating at its extreme because the PLL was out of lock due to the tripler crystal oscillator not working. I have not yet worked on fixing it because I just recently learned how to power the PLL out of the radio, but at least I know where to look now!!!
