I scored a 100% mint completely stock untouched inside president hr2510. I got REAL lucky on this one. It works outstanding. The only issue i have found is, connected to an external speaker when the volume is turned up to about half way the rx audio starts to break up and distort. With the nb on it starts at 3/4 up on the volume. I have not tested to see if it does it on the internal speaker yet. Is this normal for this rig? Audio amp caps maybe?

see if it does it on the internal speaker
Nope. I found the problem, i was using a 4 ohm studio monitor and apparently the radio doesn't like it. An 8 ohm external speaker and the internal speaker sound fine. The 4 ohm monitor sounds great on my other rigs. I can turn them up almost full blast before the audio amp starts to clip. I guess the 2510 doesn't like lower impedance speakers. Oh well. The ear piercing motorola speaker it is. Ouch!

Normally the amp in the radio shoulld drive a 4 ohm speaker well, had the radio before on my 4 Ohm station speaker(s)
No problem, if it sounds good on another speaker though.
Can't remember what the internal speaker impedance was, too long ago, old age and all that crap......:ROFLMAO:

It could've even been an oxidized jack socket that was the initial problem.

I've had to replace a good few that have developed tarnished contacts over the years.

Now that you've inserted a jack with your 8R speaker, try re-inserting your 4R speaker jack as the problem may have gone; IE - removed oxidation from a contact with insertion of jack.

Of course, it could be an impedance mismatch as mentioned, but I've never encountered any problems on any of my rigs.
