Below is a partial picture of the circuit board in my PALOMAR SSB500. I am trying to find out what Korean manufacturer made this radio. The screen printing on the component side of their radios is unique to this company. Possibly the company was WKS, but dunno for sure. Help anyone ??

also came out as a Universe 5500 for southpacific..with the upd 858 same one as the Palomar..
those light brown with white upper silkscreens are typical from Malaysian fabs, where usually components were installed by hand..around the 80's..it might be that Korea commisioned those boards at Malaysia, then finished case and cosmetics in Korea..

I have two Palomar SSB500s: An early production with an LC7120 pll chip, and a late production with a MC145106 pll. Universe 5500 also had the MC145106 pll. Neither the Palomars or the Universe ever used the UPD858 pll. Other than the pll, the circuitry for all three models is CLOSE to the Uniden 858 SSB, but not exactly the same. AMC is different as well as some changes in the receive circuit. Also the Universe used a 2SC2166 driver and a 2SC1945 final, while both Palomars use the 2SC1306/1307 driver/final combo.
