I got a Land Comand radio and after i checked it out I found that the dimmer switch was taken out and a three way switch was put in.
When i key it up i found that it is transmitting a signal on all three positions,i do not know what freek it is on??
How do i find out what freek it is on?

thank you

get a frequency counter or another radio to monitor it to see where your at. I would guess to say that the middle position is the standard 1-40 channels. It would be easy to see or tell by putting it on channel 38 LSB durring the day or if no SSB in that particular radio then put it on 19 or channel 6 AM and it would seem busy with people talking.

It's pretty common to do a switch with normal 40 in the middle, upper channels (above 40) on the top setting, and the lower channels (under channel 1) on the bottom setting. You might check CB tricks to see if they have a map. But as stated by tonyv225, a simple check with a frequency counter, or by using another radio that covers all the bands (export rig) can get it figured out real quick. If you plan on keeping the rig, it's probably best if you spring for a freq counter just so you don't have to follow a roadmap/chart of the channels and where you are transmitting.

Those are really cool rigs, btw... a pic would be nice if you can post one up!

Three position switch

Your switch is most likley a channel modification. If you see wires from the switch soldered to the circuit board on the pins of the MB8719 I.C. then we have confirmation. Best Way to determine the frequencies of the modification is a frequency counter. A search of the "Secret CB" site will help identify the channels of the modification.

If the switch has small crystals attached, it is also a channel kit.

The best thing to do with a channel kit is remove the darn thing.

Good luck.

The main circuit board will have an ID number, probably beginning with the letters "PC". Pretty sure the vendor of this one was Uniden. They routinely re-use the same main circuit board for different brands and models. Odds are that a radio that did get published to the web shares the same main board. The specifics of the clock, and the control-panel wiring may be different, but if the circuit board is the same, that's better than nothing. Don't have a handy cross reference like that for this model.

From this thread: https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/sbe-land-command-model-lcbs-8-am-ssb-base.25371/page-2

"I have a LCBS-8, looks nice radio, PLL8719, same board as washington, i also have 2 LCMS-4 radios PLL is 3001 chip, one is a parts donor rig, they all run nicely" - Xitami

The Sam's for the 8719 Washington is 222. You may want to get the board number off your LCBS-8 and compare it to the Washington board number (PC-385) to see if they really are the same. I don't have an LCBS-8 so I can't tell you.

Here's a craptastic scan of what's supposed to be the 8719 Washington's service manual: http://www.cbradio.nl/president/Service_Manual_President_Washington_MB8719_Homer_ENG.pdf

Looks like an eyestrain inducer, but it may be easier to read when enlarged.
