Hes not answering his emails. I have 4 SBE "speech spander" boards I want him to restore for me since he said In a video he has the chips for them
Mike hasn't responded to any type of contact in about 2 years. I was a very good customer of his and apparently he just decided to start ghosting people

Update: OldTech03 is going through my 99v and he did find various issues with it. He has addressed the issues and we are going to put a new bezel and faceplate on it. When I get it back it will be better than new. Thanks for the lead on OldTech03 as he is doing an A1 job. Highly recommended!!:)

I received the faceplate I will get on it as soon as I finish up the ROBYN 520D restore but I should have that done today hopefully but I get so many phone calls and distractions throughout the day it takes up more time than it should but I will get it done.

Also looks like I will be doing an install of one of those DDS VFO units in a Cobra 148 GTL I may try to do a video but no promises.

Not trying to create more work for you, but if you were able to do a video about the DDS VFO in a 148 gtl, it would be a very interesting and informative video. Is it a complicated install?
Looks interesting and a cool update for the older units (saw the video on CB radio magazine).

It is my intention to do a video but it may actually be several videos not because it will take me several days but because it ends up being several days with all the interruptions and calls I field every day for repairs and the occasional walk in which always seems to eat up the day. But I will make an attempt to produce those videos be what they may be.

OldTech03:

Just wondering if you're familiar with the Yaesu FT-990. I have a couple of adjustments I'd like to have to have done but have no way of knowing what is involved. My RF power adjust isn't quite robust enough to get the job done. I can adjust the maximum output from the inside, but if I set it at 30w like the manual says, the lowest I can turn it down on the front is 11 watts. I would like to be able to use the front RF power knob to get down to about 1 watt and all the way up to 35 or so watts. Even if I turn the inside adjustment down all the way I can only bottom out at 11 watts, and then there is no adjustment from the front. Is that a mod you could make?
TIA.

Ok, I will try to put something together on the DDS VFO. For now, this is the finished DX99V sporting a new Bezel, Faceplate a new set of knobs, and new plastic washers behind the knobs. This unit kept me busy seemed like every issue I cured caused another issue but I do believe it's in good shape now it certainly looks new. I re-coated the heat sink with some High temp black and freshened up the case.

The image below was a joint I found in the VCO area
3rd leg of 10240 circuit issues.jpg

This image below was the 10 mhz crystal that later caused intermittent issues
when I traced it down to the crystal I was able to tug on the crysta
l
a little and it pulled right out.

before it was over there were about 6 intermittent issues
I had to track down among other issues.

I'm familiar with the 990 I have had them in the past for repairs but have never come across issues of the kind you speak of or anyone asking for it they have always been fine with factory spec alignments, that being said there are adjustments or limit adjustments that may allow the range to come close to what you're trying to accomplish. How well the 990 will like those levels would be a try and let's see if it would be possible. I will look at the schematics and xmit alignment procedures for the 990 and see if it may be possible but unfortunately, the only way to know is to try it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've looked through the manual and I only see one I AM output adjustment on the inside and unfortunately it only works on the upper and of the face adjustment. Regardless of how I adjust the maximum output the low output still only goes to 10 or 11 Watts.
