Lookiing for the mic wiring diagram with color coded wires for my Pace CB 143 mobile cb radio, it's in Sams PhotoFacts CB Volume 79, which I'm missing. Any help would be much appreciated... Beachcomber

If what you want is a diagram with the color of wire on each pin of the mike plug, I have never seen that published for this radio.

That model uses only three pins on the plug. Ground, mike audio and transmit. The schematic makes it look as if the mike cord is hard-wired into a hole in the radio chassis. No plug to disconnect.

Looking at the Turner mike-wiring book at CB Tricks, the 143 model shows pin 1 as transmit, pin 2 is ground, 3 is not connected and pin 4 is mike audio.

I'll try to remember to look for CB79 at work next chance and see if it reveals any more.

Tricky part is to sufficiently magnify and make out the molded-in pin numbers on the inside of the plug's black insulator body.

You're right about that. I use my flourescent lamp with a magnifier built-in to see the numbers and draw a pic as to what each pin is numbered. Works for me...

Worse comes to worse I can open the radio up and look at the wires on socket.

I just happen to have CB-79. Although someone once tore the schematic page in half and failed to put it back together properly. It shows a 6 Pin DIN connector for the mic. If you can believe Sam's:

Pin 1 - TX
Pin 2 - Shield/ground (2 wires)
Pin 3 - NC
Pin 4 - Audio
Pin 5 - NC
Pin 6 - NC

The PTT switch connects the mic hot side to pin 1 and shorts pin 2 and pin 4 together.

Thank you TM86, thats exactly what I needed. And yes, I can believe Sams, a pic of the 6 pin din socket on the radio:
