    Radioddity QT-80 Warranty/Service

I want to follow up with the forum on this post. Radioddity had me return the radio for a warranty replacement unit. They just sent me the tracking number for the new unit on the way. So I would say that they back these radios for sure.

    Radioddity QT-80 Warranty/Service

Just to make sure my meters aren't the issue, I hooked up my Yaesu FT-847 and tried it with the same meters and it was a solid 95-100 watts on SSB. Only getting 35 on the Qt80 at max power.

    Radioddity QT-80 Warranty/Service

Yes, but I haven't gone there as of yet. I do have the software and the cable and I've gone in and changed some of the regular user accessible settings, but I'm waiting to hear back from radiodity before I do something like get into the service menu. most of the YouTube reviewers have said...

    Radioddity QT-80 Warranty/Service

I have tested using my Astatic 600 3 face meter, a brand new DOSY TB-3001 PSW, and the meters on my AT100Pro tuner. All 3 agree within a few watts. I also tested with a little Astatic PDC-1 meter, which does not show peak readings, but it agrees with the others on the AM deadkey reading and...

    Radioddity QT-80 Warranty/Service

I have been playing around with the QT-80 I recently purchased from Radioddity. I'm only getting about 50 % power, in all modes. Only 40 peak on SSB, only 30-35 peak in am from only an 8 watt deadkey (all of this is with RF power knob maxed). FM only 18-21 watts, depending on frequency...

    10/11 meters with my RV

On the plus side, The Radioddity QT-80 is a cool little rig. Eventually, we plan to buy a house, and with a nice base station vertical or a small beam, this will be a fun rig to have. They have a bundle sale where you get the radio and a couple of trinkets for 259 plus shipping. One of the...

    10/11 meters with my RV

So I decided against a 102 inch whip. With shipping, I was looking at $85 to $90. I got a Wilson Trucker 2000 with the 10" shaft from Walmart for $53. I used a single channel mount and a heavy duty quick disconnect to mount it to the top of the RV ladder. I am using a 30' length of RG8X...

SWR Woes with Wilson Trucker 2000 and RV Ladder

Thanks. I hope I didn't mess it up. I actually did all the cutting and measuring swr with the whip all the way retracted inside the antenna. So if I want to increase length, I probably have 4 inches or so to play with. But I have much more interest in having 10 meters available rather than...

SWR Woes with Wilson Trucker 2000 and RV Ladder

Too late! I have already cut the whip. (Like quite a bit, lol) I do have a very good SWR curve now, covering all of CB band up to about 28.8 with readings under 2.0 at the ends and flat right at 28.0 Is there any disadvantage to having done it the way I did versus changing to the 5" shaft...

SWR Woes with Wilson Trucker 2000 and RV Ladder

Ok, so any suggestions on how to actually cut the whip? It is just laughing at my side-cutters.

SWR Woes with Wilson Trucker 2000 and RV Ladder

Ok, so this morning I added 3 102" wires attached to the antenna mount and spread them out on the roof of the RV and temporarily taped them down. I am now getting an acceptable SWR, but the low point is down at 25.5! It goes up to around 2:1 at 27, and is well above 3:1 at 28. This is...

SWR Woes with Wilson Trucker 2000 and RV Ladder

Thanks for the replies, guys. I really appreciate it! I will first try the counterpoise wire approach. If that doesn't do the trick, then I will attempt to bond the ladder to the RV chassis.

SWR Woes with Wilson Trucker 2000 and RV Ladder

So I got the last couple of things to mount a Wilson 2000 Trucker (10 in. shaft) on the ladder for my RV using a 4 bolt bracket mount. SWR is quite bad. I'm around 3.4:1 at 29 Mhz, even with the whip at its shortest. The SWR actually goes down as I go down in frequency. About the best I get...

102 Inch SS Whip Sticker Shock!

I can get a Wilson T2000 with the 10" shaft for $54 from Walmart online.

102 Inch SS Whip Sticker Shock!

So I'm now thinking about getting a Wilson Trucker 2000 instead. Quite a bit cheaper, and tunable without having to cut the whip. Thoughts?

102 Inch SS Whip Sticker Shock!

Ay caramba. $78 bucks for a 102 inch whip? That's insane.

    10/11 meters with my RV

Hi all. It's been a minute since I've been on here. A tornado in 2019 wiped out all my antennas. I decided at the time to invest the insurance money that I got for them into my flight simulation hobby and mothball my equipment for a while. My wife and I are going to retire and become...

What do you think is the best Omnidirectional antenna for 11 meters ?

I'd go with the Gainmaster. If I needed to exceed the power limitations of the Gainmaster, I would go with the Maco V5000.

    Talking skip no longer illegal

It would be cool if they would increase legal power to 25 AM and 150 SSB. When I used to read the FCC enforcement actions, it usually wasn't someone talking skip that was getting busted. It was the guys that ran big power out of band.
