Yes, your assumption is correct. A foot switch is generally required when the ham amplifier brand is different than the transceiver. Just a foot switch connected.

You can try the foot switch first to see what happens. I am using Yaesu FL-7000 amplifier with a foot switch for 4 radios ( I select radios by using an antenna switch ). I run an Icom, a Yaesu, a Striker and an Anytone 6666. It’s working fine.

I opened up the motor maul to check the 1/4 connector that says “ remote” To my surprise it has 12 volts coming from the alternator. Now I have no idea what the purpose of that connector is. Probably this motor maul is so old that it does not accept any remote.

More pics. By the way, the pot in the front is 3k ohms. For now, I have a small voltmeter, variable pots like the one installed in the front of the Motor Maul. My doubt is if I need anything else ( resistors, diodes, etc. ) to fabricate this remote. Any help regarding how to make a wired remote...

Here are some pictures where the remote goes. I think it is a 1/4 microphone mono connector. There are 2 red cables, one goes to the case ( ground ) and the other one goes to a relay ( see the pen pointing to it ).

If you are talking about the Devant, there is no real pictures of it. Do a search in Google and verify.

Jeje, I think is more expensive. They quoted me this antenna recently. Too expensive for an omnidirectional antenna!!!!
