Well, I think no one has bought this antenna. Probably Mosley are reluctant to provide real pictures because they don’t want the competition to copy their design. I am just wondering !

Try another radio with built in SWR meter and /or another external meter in order for you to discard if it is the radio or the antenna. An antenna analyzer would be best.

If you are not running big power, you can try soldering a piece of copper, if not, you can buy solid bare copper and make a new coil. In order to do that, you must determine the gauge of the broken one. Here is a link to buy it. Some sell it by the foot, other by the roll...

It is a good coax but remember, it is a foam dielectric type coax. Watch out for sharp bends. Center can migrate to the shield and that is not good. That is why a solid dielectric coax is more suitable for mobile. RG-400 would have been the best choice. It is freaking expensive, but worth the price.

I have a Sirio 5000 antenna that came with the foil. For some reason I don’t recall, I changed the magnet with one without the foil. SER went up. I had to go back to the original magnet. Definitely, the direct grounding is better but the foil works.

You may consider a Starduster aluminum radial element. Is has 3 telescopic sections. I have one and it is a charm.
