I am asking about the top loaded vs. base loaded because my Sirio base loaded is too high. I live in a rural area with low branches. I have to pay attention to those low branches in order for not hitting the whip.
My bad, it is not a Firestick, it is a 3 feet K40 top loaded antenna. It was a...
I have two types of magnet antenna. A Titanium 3001 Sirio Antenna ( around 5 feet long, base loaded with a stainless steel whip ) and an adjustable Firestick Antenna ( around 3 feet long, top loaded, tip is adjustable ) .
Which one will perform better ?
Mine is set to 22’ 5” from the bottom of the bracket to top of radiator.
I was wrong about measurements from radial plate to top of radiator. I should have said 21’ and 5”.
r carl, if you notice on that manual you posted, the antenna length 19 feet long. With that length it will never tune on 11 meter band. It must be lengthened to around 22 feet and 3-4 inches in order to get it on 11 meter band.
Old Super Penetrator instructions states 22’3” = 267” long from radial plate to the tip.
Since this new SPT 500 has some minor changes in the Matching Section ( original one used aluminum rods, new one uses aluminum straps ) , I could tune mine by lengthening it to 22’4” = 268”, remember...
nfsus, I tried to adjust the legs that hold the loop with no success. What I did was to replace the stainless steel capacity hat with shorter aluminum ones.
Mine was resonant around 26,855 and by shortening the capacity hat with shorter one did the trick. It makes the antenna shorter...
I I modified the capacity hat because resonance was way to low, below channel one, now resonance is close to channel 20.
Aluminum shorter radials
Diam. of radials= 0.165” = 1/8” = 4.20mm
Length = 20 3/4” . 21” to center of eyelet.
With a bandwidth around 2.100 MHz. I thought it was...
