I am glad to see the 10-10 club finally took action ....
I had a couple of run ins with TVZ as well and wasnt impressed with him at all ...Maybe he will see the light and straighten up......but I doubt it
I will admit those old Trams are nice radios, but for the price he is asking......they are nowhere near that nice.
I am willing to bet someone will jump on those radios though
Some companies use VHF radios for comms between their trucks and the mill or if they have a breakdown in route.
The drivers will use Cb for talking with trucks that are not within their company, road conditions, weigh cops and so forth...and alot of trucks will have both radios as mentioned...
Not to my knowlage has their been a CB with a band scope made.....
Can one be put on a radio or built for a CB....yes,if you are an eletronics genius
But the cost would make your wallet cry and be treated for major depression
Most all of the current production vhf/uhf radios have the ability to be programmed by a computer with the proper software and patch cable,it is as easy as entering the frequency,pl tone ,power output .....To me personally the software is worth getting.
Get a good quality switch that will handle the power you are planning to run.If the switch is of good quality there shouldnt be any measurable difference in swr readings
I wouldnt go to the local truckstop to get a switch,to me personally the quality would be in question.I would get one from...
I am glad to see the 10-10 group is finally starting to take some action concerning TVZ....he has been cluttering the low end of the ten meter band for way to long....
I just hate it thta my HF rig is dead,I bet the entertainment value has gone up on 28.425 the past few weeks
For local chatting a 2 meter/440 FM rig will fit the bill and you can build a Jpole for that radio for about 30$ or so that will work pretty well....
For HF,you have a small chunk of the 10 meter band ...28.300 to 28.500 for SSB voice...I have been hearing that 10 meters has been hopping the...
I did manage to find out there is a guy in the local area that works on radios....going to call him tomorrow and see what his bench rate is....hopefully he wont rake me over the coals
Yes it has been modded for MARS/11 meters CK .....I personally have never transmitted out of the amateur bands with it though. But I would figure the fact I have never used it our of band might still cause the filter to pop...
Guess it is time to dig out the book and see where the filters are...
My Icom 736 stopped receiving a few of weeks ago and I have not had a chance to dig into it till today and try to figure out what happened
Well I had the chance to do so today.I turned on the radio and the thing was working, receiving signals and all !! I changed bands and POOF!! the 10k ohm...
I would use the lowest power setting the radio had to set the swr to begin with.
When you get the swr as low as you can then bump up the power and fine tune the antenna as needed
I am talking about current production radios ( the D models )
I do realize the non D models did have some issues ..I am hoping most of those have been dealt with...But I am always looking at different radios to see if they might be what I am looking for
