A single band dipole or fan dipole would be a good way to go about it ,simple to build and usually no tuner required.
If you are going to buy one an off center fed windom works fairly well and in most cases the built in tuner in most radios will work just fine.

There was a CME/solar storm or one of those sun related deals that has had HF really messed up this past week...there was a couple of days that I didnt hear anything at all from 17 to 10 meters....
but on the bright side,things are starting to open up again
I am off work today due to weather and decided to turn on the radio...at 7:30 AM local time I was scanning across 20 meters and was surprised to hear the general portion of the band silent ...... that dont happen everyday.....
Take a hard look at the Yaesu FT 60 handheld .It is a duel bander and has a really nice extended receive as well. And the best part is it is under 200$.
I have had mine for about a month now and I am really enjoying it,small and compact ,5 watts output,simple to program,good battery...
Handhelds have their place,but they are very limited as to their range reguardless of the antenna you put on them.They are great little workhorses and will serve you well,just keep in mind they are kind of like using a slingshot when you need a high powered rifle

I read somewhere that SWR readings will change depending no how bad they have been verbally abused.....SWRs need reassuring that they are important and needed :laugh: :tongue:
When I was running 11 meters I was above channel 40 ssb ... 27.415 to about 655 or so....found alot of contacts in that range with 90 % of those contacts were 27.555 down to 415 ...for some reason 27.555 was usb at the time and most all the other frequencies were lsb

29 mhz is in the FM portion of the ten meter band and general class or higher for class requirements.
If you are hearing "bleedover" from the CB band chances are that guy is running a splatter box radio and kicker ...I can assure you if that guy is ever located he will be in more hot water...
