I bought my 897 new , about 8 years ago from Gigaparts . It's from the 897's last run . They discontinued them 3 months after I bought mine . In all that time , it's just sat here on my desk . It's never been mobile , portable , or exposed to the elements . This is the first time that it's ever...
So today I hooked my Yaesu FT-897d back up to the power supply and turned it on to check it out and see if I could figure out what's wrong with it , and now it's working like it should .
No idea what went wrong with it to begin with , because it did this without any warning , and now I have no...
Thanks Greg , I'll look into getting a Turner Plus 3 to go with it in the near future . So do you think that the Turner 254 would make a good match up for in the mean time , or stick with the Silver Eagle for now ?
Ok , well I have a D104 Silver Eagle , and a Turner 254 that I can use with it . The Silver Eagle is already wired up to it , but I was wondering which one would be a better match up for the 757GX II .
I understand that , but doesn't the radio have a pin in it that should be already supplying power to the MD-100 , like they do with the stock mics ... and shouldn't the cord I bought already be wired properly between the radio and the mic so that they match up and work together ?
I have a Yaesu MD-100A8X Desktop Mic , I'd like to use it on my Yaesu FT-757GX II ? I bought a cord on ebay that was suppose to be able to match the mic to the radio , there's keyup but no audio . Has anyone else ever put an MD-100A8X on a FT-757GX II , how difficult would it be for me to get...
I went to a local Hamfest last weekend and I bought a nice little Yaesu FT-757GX II while I was there . It's in nice condition , and it works good ... but the meter lights are blown . I bought a bunch of "New" wheat bulbs on ebay a few years ago . But they're not any good at all , because I've...
Hi everyone ,
I have an old Heathkit HW-101 that I've been gradually bringing back to life . It's about to get an electrolytic capacitor update (from Hayseed) , and I've replaced all the tubes with (NOS) tubes that have all tested good on my tube tester . I've only got 1...
Actually the "Lock Key" button was the first thing that I checked, and unfortunately it wasn't locked. I even did a factory reset and the Mode and Band buttons are still not working. I wish the issue with my FT-897D were that easy to fix, but apparently it's going to be a little more difficult...
Hey everyone , I have a Yaesu FT-897D that I bought new around 6 or 7 years ago , and it's never given me any issues before . Then this morning I turned it on like I do every other morning , and it's Mode switch , and Band switch seem to be locked . I figured that I must have accidentally bumped...
I have my General Class license as well . I first received my call sign in March of 2004 ... and then I upgraded from a Technician to the General Class in March of 2007 . I spend most of my time on 40 meters , but I still have a lot of friends on the CB . So I go back there a lot as well . We...
In the older Ham radios , is it ok to mix and match you Final tubes . Not the numbers , but the companies . Is it ok to put a GE 6146 tube with an RCA 6146 in the same radio ?
That's pretty funny ... I picked up Raccoon around 1994 or 1995 . I originally got on the CB in 1978 when I was 10 years old ... and talked on my parents radio all the time until 1985 . My original handle was The Dirt Bike Kid because I rode dirt bikes all the time . I stopped talking in 1985...
What about those "DIY Digital Frequency Display" kits that are on ebay being sold by a seller in Brazil ?? Has anyone on here had any experience with those ? He has kits for multiple older radios , but none for Heathkit . Would any of them work on a Heathkit , and if so is there one that would...
I should have mentioned that . That is the issue I've been having , finding a frequency counter that will work on sideband ... sorry for not mentioning that before
Hi everyone , I have an old Heathkit SB-102 , and an old Heathkit HW-101 .... and if you know those radios , then you know they both have the old analog type dials . So you don't always know if you're on frequency or not . I love my old tube radios , so I'm looking for recommendations for a good...
I have an Icom IC-V8 , it works good except for the LCD screen is a wonky . I know it's possible to replace the LCD screen , but I've been having some trouble trying to locate the right replacement screen for the IC-V8 , and since I've found very little information about online . I was wondering...
