Shouldn't it work with just 5 wires? Think I read somewhere once that the yellow isn't needed, which is exactly the one that's missing.

Good reply, but yes, unfortunately no such situation. I actually got a buddy to pick up a custom cord from a local shop that sells the good stuff with thick wires and a solo ground that he put heat shrink on. Just 5 wires including the ground.

I have a RK 56 that needs a new cord, it's for a 4 pin radio. I ordered a new cord that was supposed to be for a 4 pin RK 56 with 6 wires, but the cord I received only has 5 wires.. Am I supposed to improvise and just use 5 wires somehow?

So I sent my DaveMade 2x4 and had it staged out where it can be ran as a straight 4 pill or a 2x4. Question is can I get the DK on the high side of my General Lee low enough to run the straight 4, and keep the low side set for the 2x4? If not I will send my radio to have a variable put in it.

Yeah, not that the length changed anything, but I think my SWR was suffering a little so I changed it out with the shorter one.

After some rearranging stuff and swapping to a shorter jumper cable my numbers reflect more of what you said. Probably had some fluff watts going on. 13.8 is about what I run too..

Lol, I should have chose my wording more carefully. I didn't mean temperature hot, but fire in da wire hot. Lol.. In fact its been running rather cool. Not getting hot at all. Here comes a question that may seem green; is heat my only worry, or can things go wrong even with relatively little heat?

I think you were closer to the output estimate you first reported before you edited it when you said 175. This little box is hot!! It may be closer to 185-195!!!

I run a ratshaq meter in line with all my stuff, and I watch it closely. Right now I'm putting about a watt DK into it (about a 20 watt carrier from the box, could be a little higher like 30-35 I suppose but that's what it was doing when I put the two together and it sounds good so didn't see...
