A local operator runs this combo, sounds really good. I built a power supply for him from 3 HP server supplies and have it set at 14.7 volts. He makes 1200 watts out according to his meters. If you want to know more, just ask.
Some good news!! I had 30 minutes today to play with this. The filaments light! The meter works! It makes 2200 volts DC with only 16 volts AC ripple! The relay functions and the idle plate current come up! Both fans spin! The anode cap on one of the tubes fell off, unless that can be...
Based on the replies, this is worth getting to run again if the transformer is still good. I had 5 minutes to look at it earlier tonight and the fuse is blown, so that's not a good start. When I have time I'll disconnect the transformer from the rectifier and caps and see if it will make A/C...
What the title says, rebuild this dinosaur Hunter Bandit 2000A or scrap it? It has 4 572 tubes of unknown condition, but I'm assuming they are air bottles. It also doesn't have the expected input band switch and tuning network. It was given to me for free. What says the hive?
The 6666PRO has a much more substantial heatsink. Original 6666 with the fan is the top radio, the PRO is the bottom, notice the deeper heatsink and the increased fin count.
A quick first impression: I currently have a Lincoln 2+, original 6666, & IC7300 radios to compare this radio to. The receiver and noise reduction seems very slightly better than my IC7300 with the "best" settings in both radios. The noise reduction seems to work better if the RF gain is turned...
I have mine! The band is pretty dead right now, but when it opens up, I will have it hooked up through a high isolation RF switch so I can switch between the 6666PRO and an IC7300 so I can compare the receivers on the same antenna.
I don't think it would work like you think. A legal CB @ 4 watts carrier ÷ by 40 channels is only 1/10th of a watt carrier per channel. Even a hot export @ 20 watts carrier ÷ by 40 channels is only 1/2 watt per channel. This isn't going to help call anyone to your aid.
If USPS does it's job, I'll have this radio tomorrow. Little bit confused though, I didn't order a blue tooth mic, so I'm assuming it was just used on my radio for the demo.
I appreciate the technical expertise required to engineer this board, however I think releasing it to the public would be a mistake. I can't imagine the 1111 idiot on all 40 channels. Loser's will severely misuse this.
