cool, thanks ill try it. I also drilled a couple drill points where the 2 screws from the lip mount push on the under side of trunk, to get thru the paint. there are nice bare metal dimples that they seat into, I put some dielectric grease in them to help prevent oxidation

well after reading that, pretty much every antenna ive considered is crap including the one I have, and no matter what my settup will suck and damage my equipment! people really spend thousands on their mobile setup? what HF antenna can I get for 1200$?

UPDATE: I borrowed a friends K40 trunk lip mount, the swr issues are gone, It was the crappy antenna i was using. however i have to mount it right at the seam of the trunk by the back window. I have a feeling this is not the optimal spot on the car, but i had a few dx contacts with so I am happy...

so I am reviving this thread a year later. I have pulled this off the shelf and temporarly set it up in the mobile. Seems to work good but as this thread discussed, there are issues with the amp. Any chance someone could take my pics and sketchin where I could add the neg. feedback components...

Thanks for the input, but I chickened out after looking it over. There were some hand notes in how to use it and looked like its over my head. I'd probably end up burning it up or my self. Seems like the guy selling had the same issue, he never used it either.
