Yep, newbies to the the band don't know about long standing traditions like this one.
I've been a sidebander since 81.
38 has always been a call channel.
Not yet.
I've been a cber since 78. got into ssb in 81. it's always been 38 was the call channel to make contacts in/out of country. if you were gonna qso longer than a few minutes, a considerate dxer would qsy and let the other operators try to make contacts.
Evidently, there aren't as many...
What's with these guys carrying on a 2 hr qso on the call channel.
Pretty annoying trying to make contacts between WR members conversing like they're on a landline for 2 hrs...
Did mine myself... yesterday.
PS is a tad too big to fit square so the frame arm wont line up with holes in the back case cover. ...
The case won't go on unless you remove the sheild box around the PA board and move the PS over too clear the frame arm.
No. The power lead enters the tube above the coil. It had mini Anderson connectors on it.
I powered it and the antenna goes up and down as it should.
How many wraps on the ferrite coil should it have?
Yes, homemade.
It's a DK3 design but I'm pretty sure it's not one of his builds.
The lead with the choke on it is the drive motor power. It does work. I can wrap more loops.
Looking for info on the coil taps in the pic as I have not seen them on one of these antennas yet.
Thanks
Anyone seen this or know who built it?
I own it, came with a radio I bought. I'm familiar with how they work, etc. except I've never seen one with these coil taps at the bottom.
Any Ideas?
Thanks.
I have a question...
If this one was designed for 27 Mhz, why did you change the spacing from the specs? Or is the one IN the pic a different beam?
Would the spacings of say a moonraker 4 or 6 work?
Lemme revive it a little more...
I just bought one of these Big Daddy beams... 100 bucks...
I downloaded the pdf manual but nit much info there and no assembly instruction...
Anybody still have the assymbly manual?...
Thanks
