    QSL card program

I use the QSL card creator. Yeah, it only prints on one side, but I just treat it like a postcard. You know, put a personal note there. "You were my first satellite contact", "I was up in your area back in .... beautiful part of the US", etc. Just use a card stock paper when printing it out...

    FCC ULS Database Privacy?

Just last week, a man came to my door. He was asking me my name. I asked him why, as I had never seen him before. He said he was a fellow ham, and after hearing my callsign on the local club net, decided to use QRZ, to get my name, and address. He then Google mapped my address, and in his words...

    AO-51 QRP

I was just curious, if anyone on this forum, has used the QRP frequencies, and made a successful contact through AO-51. From what I read, they are 145.880 uplink, and 435.150 downlink.

    Budget Base set up

Here's my question to you... What radio are you going to be using? does the radio automatically tune down for the doppler shifting? If no, then you're going to be pretty busy manually tuning down your radio, while rotating your antenna.

    Satellite Frustration

I made a complete contact today with WV3V about 130 miles away from me. I have to say, I'm not doing to bad, for just a 5 watt handheld, and a Diamond RH77CA rubber whip. I'm figuring out how to hold it, and how if I move it just a half an inch or so, makes a lot of difference in reception. I'm...

    ISS is back on

ISS is currently in packet mode, for those of you that have a hankering for that. Hopefully they will switch over to voice operation later on. That way, I can have another shot at a contact.

    Homebrew Help Request

Cap. Kilowatt, Thanks for your reply. Here's what I meant 10 picofarad = 0.00001 microfarad. I meant they carry that particular cap, in an electrolytic form. (0.00001uF). Thanks for the advice, I will seek out exactly what the duplexer calls for.

    Homebrew Help Request

I'm going to be building a homebrew satellite antenna over the weekend. I am confident that I will have little trouble doing so, in the construction of the actual antenna. I've built some different antennas in the past. Here's my problem though. In building the duplexer/diplexer, the...

Build your own cheap VHF & UHF Yagi antennas

Two questions... 1.) Is the aluminum tubing for the reflectors/directors, hollow? 2.) When drilling the holes for the elements to slip through, do you drill all the way through for both holes on the driven elements, or all the way through for the top part, and most of the way through, for...

    NA1SS

I didn't get through...I didn't try either..It's about 110 outside, and I decided to wait a while. I'm going to try on the 00:51 - 00:58 (1851-1858MDT) pass here in about 20 minutes or so.... If not, I'll try again tomorrow....I'm just having fun. Laying out my compass, and marking...

    NA1SS

I'm going to try to contact the ISS, in the next day or two. What would you say is the proper protocol for contact? I've heard people calling CQ, and I have heard others saying QRZ (You are being called by....) Which is the proper way, or the one that is used most? Thank you...
