    Looks like a ton of good info here. A lot of explanation on how things work as well. I will use this for sure. It may be a bit until I can get back to the radio bench though. I wish I had more time to read my Lou Franklin books… might help me as well

    Caps is a good idea for sure. Mine needed it regardless, it just happened to not fix my problem.

    Peak or average?

    The peak kit BJ mentioned if a simple but very amazing little product. If you have a meter you really like and want it to be true PEP, buy that kit!

    Ok, not sure how big I now have receive. Like I said, I’m just a hobbyist… I have the receive aligned but it seems a bit off. Doesn’t have any static when no signal is being injected and it struggles with weak signal compared to other cobras I’ve done. Still nothing on the transmit side

    So I have an older cobra 29 that has no transmit or receive. The rx/tx light changes when I key the mic. The PA works so the audio chip seems to be good. All I hear is a click in the speaker when key up. The meter does not move on rx or tx. I replaced all the caps in the entire radio after...
