    Do I need a Balun?

    I want to make a wire antenna cut for 30 meters. I'm confused about the need for a balun. Can i just attach the wire to the end of my coax? Could anyone who has made a few wire antennas enlighten me. I'm using a LDG AT-897 auto tuner with my rig. Thanks & 73 Art W8ARR

    MFJ-2220 20 meter mini - dipole

    I have a MFJ-2220 20 meter mini - dipole antenna. It is mounted on a 10 ft piece of 3/4 inch electrical conduit. I am having a hard time getting an acceptable SWR. I was wondering if I need to get it up to at least 1/4 wavelength. Thanks & 73 Art W8ARR

    FC-30 tuner on FT-897

    Using a FC-30 tuner on FT-897. I have a G5RV and a MFJ-2220 20 meter mini-dipole. I also have an MFJ-949E tuner. The FC-30 isn't good for long wires (as I found out after I bought it). Just wondering if I could use my MFJ tuner for 80/40 meters and the FC-30 for 20 and above. Would I need to...
