Any Thoughts on the 757 amps?

That is because those amps are wide open with no filtering, so there are harmonics being generated, so think of the meter seeing transmissions from more than one transmitter at a time, so while you might not hear the splatter, they are FOR SURE generating harmonics/RF junk/spurs elsewhere...

tone on channel 19 the last 5 days?

With the skip running out to Cali, AZ etc from the East Coast, they are complaining out there, even thinking its a local plugging their ears. Its not, its good ol' "Mr. CB" aka; James Calvin Martin out in Seffner Florida.

    TRC-440

OLD thread, but looks like you have experience with TRC-440! For the audio limiter, so far I've seen R135, R136, R139, or D107, D108, and D109 from Secret CB. Which is it?

Texas Star DX667V, Relay bad, or parts that trigger the relay?

Thanks guys, LOTS to consider here, sounds like I need a pro to take care of this, way beyond my pay grade.

Texas Star DX667V, Relay bad, or parts that trigger the relay?

Shockwave, was the cap you were referring to C2? The SSB delay is fine so I would guess that C4, the 1000uF, is still good.

Texas Star DX667V, Relay bad, or parts that trigger the relay?

With keying the mic and relay not engaged, it was a little over 5v, when the relay was activated, it was a little over 2v. Not sure it mattered, but this was with the variable turned down and the Dial-A-Watt depressed, so there would be no output when it keyed up.

Texas Star DX667V, Relay bad, or parts that trigger the relay?

Thanks Shockwave, I'll check it out. So C4, D1 and Q1?

Texas Star DX667V, Relay bad, or parts that trigger the relay?

Texas Star DX667V, all Toshiba's. It takes near a 2w deadkey to key it up and by then the amp deadkey out is 180w, so using the variable to tame it back to 120'ish and the swing is the expected 500w PEP. I was told it could be the relay is dirty, so I cleaned it, still the same thing. My...

President Lincoln II+ V3 AM Choppy Squelch Issue

Translated: "It's a known tech bug in the radio we have no intention of doing anything about because it would incorporate design changes that would cost us a buttload of money, since if we admit an issue, we'll have to pay for people to send in the radios for repair. Further, since NOT enough...

Use of capacitor across the leads of stock Taiwan Cobra 148 GTL speaker?

Just replaced an old Taiwan Cobra 148 GTL's speaker that was getting raspy sounding at low volumes with a brand new Workman SA-350 3.5" replacement speaker, did the trick. The old speaker has a small cap across the terminals, (see attached) and the new one doesn't. Does anyone know the reason...

Max AM RMS Output With Texas Star DX500V?

Yep, well aware, and why I would use an attenuator. The Zegati box does a good job, 1/2 or 1/4 power reduction.

Max AM RMS Output With Texas Star DX500V?

Thanks, that's what I kinda figured. Also I've heard those famed Dial A Watt potentiometers fail pretty often since they are rated at 2w, is this correct? If that's the case and since stuck with a 5w minimum AM carrier I will use a Zetagi RP2 power reducer and not use the Dial A Watt.

Max AM RMS Output With Texas Star DX500V?

What would be the max AM RMS output I could run with a less "swingy" radio with a Texas Star DX500V? I'm picking up a Yaesu FT-891 and not only do they do a 5w minimum carrier on AM, they really have no swing, perhaps a 1-to-2 ratio vs what one would normally use like my 148 with a 1-to-4...

President Lincoln II+ V3 AM Choppy Squelch Issue

Yep, 1 you cant hear it, 2 its too loud for late night use, I have mine next to the bed and it sucks. The fix is an external speaker with a volume control and the little Nagoya NSP-150V does the trick on the cheap, you can find them for around $10-$15 on eBay.

President Lincoln II+ V3 AM Choppy Squelch Issue

Thanks for the input, and well aware of the engineering menu, I've used it before with great luck getting the freq alignment dead perfect, as they are always a little off from the factory, and I like to keep the clarifier locked on TX For me the squelch issue is a killer for the one of the...

President Lincoln II+ V3 AM Choppy Squelch Issue

Yep, sucks don't it? I would reach out to President, that is certainly not right! Did you purchase it new or was it previously "golden screw-drivered? The squelch is the only flaw in the radio in an otherwise fantastic radio. I've only had one out of about 5 that DIDN'T do this, and I think it...

Any AM Deadkey Input Difference for the RM Italy KL 503 vs KL 503HD?

Partially, yes lol! My question is really was it MEANT to handle higher dead keys "properly" as well as higher PEP, or just higher PEP. Really only PEP for the win :(

Any AM Deadkey Input Difference for the RM Italy KL 503 vs KL 503HD?

Yeah, I saw that video too, and he mentions 1,2 and then 3 watts into it and you are right about the 1x8 in this, I just found this thread and the consensus is sadly what I suspected. https://www.cbradiotalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&p=404702 "Hey guys, I have been studying this KL503HD, it is...
