Antenna length for walkie talkie

i have used a 102" steel whip on a trc226 walkie using about 3' of coax and a handheld mic. all this mounted to the basket of my bicycle. powered with a little 6ah battery that i could recharge after about 6 hours of use. this little rig was clean and reached out several miles easily. my kid...
