I have one of their mobile antennas for about 4 yrs now and works flawless. Their base antennas,although they do perform well, the construction quality just isn't there.
Well, the Sirio Tornado bit the dust. Not impressed with the quality. In a 30mph wind it snapped at the base. It did perform well up to that point. The trusty Imax 2k will go back up.
While we are on the subject anyone talked to Waldo? He was a commercial airline pilot and he would come to 27mhz and talked to people while flying across the country. Been years since I've heard him. It was fun and interesting to say the least.
I've had many GM trucks and never experienced what you described. Always had a good ground and power ran to battery (fused). Antennas of various flavors and no issues. Only problem I had was when my son installed LED lights. Then I'd have around 7-8s units of static. Needless to say, those...
I have a nib mag mount. Never installed. Bought it then realized I can't use it on my f150.

No contacts on 16 today. Conditions weren't there. I did make 1 contact on 38lsb with 431 South Carolina. A lot of other stations in there but I was mobile and in the pharmacy drive through.
Channel 16bis almost non existent as far as DX goes, but I've got conditions on 38. I'll monitor the frequency and give a few calls and see what happens.
