Im assuming the reason for the 50% cut in wind load rating when using a lower mast support kit is because of it being clamped to a relatively thin pipe compared to a pate bolted to a tower.
My question is can i increase the wind load rating by using a different method to mount the support kit...
Talked to Hy Gain yesterday and their rotator division isnt doing well. Between covid wiping out several of their parts manufacturers and the continuing supply chain issues they are 4+ months out from resuming any new production. No new rotators/controllers until mid June at the earliest and...
Posting here also in case some folks dont look at the hambone buy/sell forum.
Looking for a T2X Rotor. If you have one that needs a new home please let me know.
Well im tired of noise from all 4 corners all at once and dug out a sy4 set i bought used several years ago. Time to put the ground plane away for a while.
After stripping it down for cleaning and what not i noticed the so239 gamma stud came apart quite nicely. My issue is the so239 insulator...
Anyone have a working used one kicking around? Maybe on a blown up amp? The few i can find new dont quite fit. From what im seeing you need to modify the bezel. This amp is modified enough inside id like to keep the outside original.
To make a long story short i sent this amp off to Peakaboo...
Been transmitting from Tampa daily for 40+ years mainly on 28 and was quite active local and skip. His daughter got on his radio at 6:25 this morning to break the news that he had pased at 6:22.
Walking back from the mailbox and i look up to see a young Osprey firmly perched on my static cap. He/she was up there for about 5 minutes. Birds of this size and larger perching on my antenna often is why i decided against the matching designs on other antennas.

The tough part was finding the right plug to modify. It has to be a 2 piece that uses screws.

I need an inner and outer for what looks like a Magnum echo board that was put in this Ranger 696 fd1.
Ill be more than happy buy the knobs and pay any shipping. I bought new graphics and would like to get this radio complete so i can store it or sell it.
Seller wont show the amp. Claims its an estate sale find. Pretty sure he knows its blown and scared to show it with the cover off. Buyer beware

I love my Xcelite ps88 screwdriver set. Comes in handy around the shack, but that smell...
I know you know what im talking about. That odor that some old tools develop over time. Xcelite tools are notorious for it. I believe its a chemical reaction between the metal and the plastic handle that...
