Using a Cobra 142 GTL with a D104 hand held power mic, and have headphones connected to external speaker jack. Radio is stock, and nothing has been clipped or volted. When I release the mic key fast like I do normally, I hear a loud pop. Release the mic key slowly, and it does not make a...
Just picked up a cherry Cobra 142 GTL. Radio is stock no mods. Dead key is 1.5 watts, and it is swinging about 10 watts true PEP.
Need to raise the carrier to 2.5 to 3 watts. Which good quality tool do I need to buy to adjust VR6 to raise AM carrier?
Thanks!
Got a Maco V-Quad assembled. PITA to assemble it.
Going to redo the reflector coil form that has the three wraps of wire. No way I could keep the wraps evenly spaced on slick plastic. Thought about it, and I am going to use electrical tape to keep the wraps spaced. Pretty sure the the three...
S6 to S7 noise level all day during daylight hours ever since my neighbor installed solar panels. He lives about 700 feet from me. As soon as it gets dark, the noise is gone. Neighbor had Power Home Solar to install the solar panels.
Currently using a Max 2000 antenna, and had no noise...
Like new Palomar SL41 microphone used a few times, and has just been laying in a storage drawer. Don't have the box or instructions. Did take out the original Excel battery, and then installed a new battery. This mic has no mods. Checked it on air after new battery installation, and it is...
Not liking how aggressive the limiter is on the radio. It cuts back on the audio way too much in my opinion. Heard there was a swing mod that leaves the limiter intact.
Any advice, parts, or who can do a swing mod at a fair price would be appreciated. Thanks
At the 0:27 mark of the video there is a close up of some of the transformers. Is that surface mount parts on the two big transformers on the left hand side?
Bought a new Powermax PM3 55 amp 12 volt power supply. Powered up a small two pill amp and six amp max draw Lincoln 2 plus version 3 radio OK. Fan did not even run, and the supply just barely got warm.
I used headphones plugged into the external speaker of the radio. I don't use talk back...
Just bought one from an authorized local dealer, and I like it very much.
This one has the clarifier menu settings that allows the clarifier to be set to receive and transmit(RT). Pretty sure the dealer said the default setting is RT which mine was.
Did not find a menu setting to switch from...
Just got a new original DaveMadeNJ M80 amp 2x HG 2290. It looks top notch, and it talks top notch. Could not even get it hot with my loud mouth.:)
Have one problem with it. Fan noise on receive, and it's definitely the fan making a low hum in my receive. I can turn the volume all the way...
Friend of mine called Stan a number of times to buy tubes, and his mailbox was full every time.
Found out that Stan passed a few weeks ago, and that his son is going to run the business, but his son is stuck in NY. Was asked not to tell the name of the person that relayed this information to...
My Daiwa CN-501H can switch between average and PEP.
This meter is not a true PEP meter, so what exactly is the PEP setting on this meter telling me? Say I am swinging 400 watts on the PEP function. How would I calculate true PEP?
Have a very good condition Thunderbolt 305 that has been converted from 6LQ6 to 24LQ6. It's one driving three. I saw it doing 600 PEP watts on a Paradynamic PEP meter. My Daiwa CN-501H does not have true PEP, but does have an average and PEP switch. On the PEP measurement setting, the...
Did not know this radio had a recording jack until I was looking on the back side of it.
I want to make some audio watergates, and not exactly sure how to go about it. I can use the free program Audacity for the software.
My computer sound card has three jacks on the back...green, pink, and...
CB radio friend of mine has a simulator, and it works good. His is the burnt orange color that MACO used on some amps like the MACO Seventy-Five link below.

Next time I go down to visit him I will take a picture of it because I...
Have been using the President Ronald since 10/25/19. Have never registered the radio for the two year warranty. Just recently bought a RCI 2980 to use for my base station, so I need to sell the Ronald.
Radio is in very good condition, and everything works. Original box with manual, mounting...
Just recently bought the Varmint amp from a gent that I made friends with on the CB radio. It has been modified by a local amp builder. It has one 6KV6 driving two 6N45C Russian tubes. The Russian tubes can be bought for reasonable prices, so I think that's why the amp was modded.
I looked...
