What is an acceptable SWR for a 2-pill, a TS350HDV with two 2879s?
I'm right about 2:1 right now (radio only), and if I install the amp I need to know if I need to mess the the antenna (a 102). I would prefer to not mess with the antenna if not necessary.
So I have an HP40W I bought new and it has spent its entire life in my Silverado 2500hd. It was setup by DTB radio back in the day, so I know it was setup correctly. But it has been almost ten years since it was touched...even checked.
Now here is something I noticed over the past weekend...
...when the solar cycle is gone and the bands are quiet...and I no longer have to listen to the doofus's trying to talk skip on channel 19 when they know that's the main channel the drivers use...
That is all.
:D
Well, I just bought a Sirio "P-5000" from HY Electronics...hopefully I bought the right one. I've been curious about these for several years now, with everyone stating how much better than a Wilson they are, which is pretty much the benchmark. Decided after reading another thread on the Sirio...
OK, maybe its me but I can draft up a response complete with spaces between paragraphs, hit submit, and it crams everything together as one long continuous paragraph that looks like garbage (looks like a two year old wrote it). <end of paragraph>
Is this a problem with the forum, or a problem...
I am trying to set up a stealth base antenna. I attached a 102 whip to a metal pole...figured the metal pole would act like the counterpoise.
Got everything hooked up, Grant XL, rg8, and ended up with a 1.7:1 on 20. All indications point that the antenna is too long, and I've already cut 3...
I drive all over for my work...wasn't a problem as I drove my own junk from 2001 until I traded last year and started getting rental cars. Just made a run from PA to FL and back last week, and really missed not having the radio for up to date traffic. I had been using a Hustler Magnetic and a...
Good Condition Galaxy DX959, MosFet version. This has been gone through by DTB Radio. Its basically a well tuned stock radio.
Just the radio. $75 shipped in lower 48.
I have no clue what "shop" this was because I only caught the discussion during skip, but thought it was worth posting...I can only say for sure it was coming from Texas.
Late last week a CB Shop and (what I assumed to be a) truck driver were having a conversation regarding a newer Galaxy...
There was a schematic/how-to on building an external filter for the power leads to a radio to eliminate alternator whine? I can remember it, but can't seem to find it...all I remember is it was a box, a magnet, and capacitor?
Anyone have that handy? I need to build one for the truck...my...
For Sale - DTB-tuned DX959.
Good condition, was used in my daily driver. It is an early mosfet version. Will include the bracket and Astatic 636L. It is essentially a DTB-peaked/tuned stock radio...no mods have ever been done to it (even the clarifier is still locked).
Asking $115...
MosFet DX959 tuned by DTB Radio a few years back. Its probably a 8 out of 10, normal light wear. Has some adhesive residue on the top cover. Works fine, just swapping radios around for giggles.
Will include the radio, bracket, and Astatic microphone (636L?)...$125 shipped.
Well, I received a new General HP40W from DTB and got around to installing it last night. So far so good, it gets good reports on air. I installed this in a 2012 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L, and as far as I can tell...the radio hasn't made any impact on the truck's operation. My main concern was RFI...
I bought a Midland 75-822 from a forum member a while back. Have been using it a lot as of late since I use a lot of rental cars now when I used to drive my pickup to job sites. I know it has been converted to 120 channels, but I'm not sure what if anything else was done.
The receive on this...
I have a 350HDV, I'm thinking my radio doesn't have enough deadkey to swing ratio.
I have a DX959, with the variable all the way down (barefoot, its about 3/4 watt), I'm getting about 65 watts and seeing about 120 modulating. If I turn it up to 100 watt dead key (just cracking the variable)...
Since I have decided to not run an amplifier, I'm considering getting a dual final radio (something like a Connex 3300HP), although I did talk over seven miles this AM with nothing more than my barefoot PC76XL; so I'm not sure it will gain me much.
What are the current flavors of dual final...
If you had a choice between a 102 or a Wilson 5000 drilled and roof-mounted; which would you do?
I'm buying a new truck shortly...so I get to do a new install. Based on what was said in the other thread about running an amplifier in a new vehicle (potential interference with the vehicle's...
