Does it cut out after 10.71 amps?

A power supply will only put out as many amps as are being drawn by a load. My Pyramid power supply is 20 constant 25 surge, but will sit at idle all day long with the meter showing nearly 0 amps being drawn.

Do you mean 10.71 AMPS or VOLTS?

Only reference on a quick search was PS12KX a 10amp steady, 12 amp surge supply which appears to be new product.

If your '12con' is an earlier production model I would expect something similar to today's production. Surge current would require knowing the test setup/configuration and a fast meter with peak detection to capture the results or an o'scope with some means to capture a fast, but slow recurring event.

I am not familiar with the Pyramid line or the 12con. My impression is its a consumer grade supply and not a laboratory/commercial supply. I have a PS-7G I took in trade as an included item. Luckily I checked the output. It was about 20volts and should have been only 13.8. It's on my fix-it list.

I would consider 10.71 amps a power supply in working condition based on all the information available.

The OP is using '12Con' to mean 12 amps contstant / 14 amps surge. I have that same Pyramid power supply. My question would be how is the current draw being measured?

    Got it fixed

As I mentioned in my first post, the owner of the power supply had said that he had dropped it so I began to look for some outside damage that might give me a clue and sure enough there was a ding on one of the heat sink fins and then with some closer examination found one of the 2n3055 voltage regulaters also had a small dent in it. So I replaced it and it's back up and running. Thanks to all who gave me advise. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your help was appreciated .Happy New Year to everyone
