the 750 maco has 1 (8950) driving 2 (6KN6) driving 6 (8950) one of the 6KN6 tubes is bad, should i replace with same or put 8950s back in there place.it would have to have the voltage changed back to the 8950 voltage.would it be worth the change.

Keep it stock!!!

Stock would be with all 8950's. Check the wiring to make sure it is correct, filament, bias, grounds, etc, and the filament voltage is correct (12 volts for 8950) and use 8950's. One other thing on the 750 with the pre-driver tube, do not overdrive it. A dual final radio is too much for it. It was designed for use with a radio producing 12-15 watts PEP. The 750 was notorious for blowing up with even a little overdrive. Removing the pre-driver tube and driving the two driver tubes will eliminate this problem.

thanks for the help,i havn't used this amp in a few years,8 maybe.but i put new caps in it just before i stored it.i used a cobra 1000 with variable watts.
