hello all...

any ideas on good antennas to put on a bike..

have a friend without computer so i am looking for him(kc2mmc)..

HF frequency's as well as 2 meter 222 mhx & 70 cm bands..

if it looks interesting...maybe i will set up a bike station as well...

maybe one of those high siera type antennas for HF...

maybe a triband mobile antenna..

maybe using say a yausu 817 alond with a HT for 222 band..

maybe some bikes are more suitible then others in doing this?

i look foward to some intereting information..

Later all...

102" whip with an AGC autotuner for HF. Just key it up and talk. The screwdriver antennas are going to be just too heavy for a bicycle, and then you have the problem of tuning them while cycling....

There's a few tribander 2m/220/440 antennas out there.....that would work with a Kenwood TH-F6a prety good. How is he going to power this stuff?

The Lakeview Hamsticks should work well on a bike. The biggest problem with any antenna is getting enough ground plane for the thing to work. Some guys I have heard of run a counterpoise wire from the bike frame and trail it out behind them as a ground as they are in motion. Not sure if I would want to be dragging a wire behind me if it suddenly snagged something or took the feet out from under a pedestrian .half wave antennas work well on VHF and UHF as they do not need much of a ground to work well.
