I'm very torn folks. I have a near-mint FT-990 that is in perfect working order, but I decided to try the Stryker line. I must say that I love the SR-955 so much that I am seriously considering selling the Yaesu. I guess what MAY push me over the edge is what I can actually get for it. Seeing that I cannot find any for sale on the interwebs, I'm going to ask what you guys think it may be worth. Here is the lowdown:

I'm the second owner, purchased from a SK so I had to do the conversion. The only thing I see the other previous owner did is crank it up 150W instead of 100W. I don't know why, but I never ran it over 40 pep to power my amp. I can find nothing wrong with the rig as everything seems to be working perfectly. Everyone I spoke with while DXing says the thing is an audio monster, perfectly clean and loud. The case is near mint and clean. I don't have much for pics at this time, but I will post one. The question is, shall I sell it, or let it sit on a shelf? How much are they worth today?

Do you really want to trade this gem for lousy chickenbander?

Well, I'm not sure. The thing is, I never use anything but 11m and some freeband freqs. There's only one other local and we speak once a week, so I shoot some skip when conditions roll in. Plus, I have no room on my property for an 80m or 40m antenna.

990 outperform any CB on SSB or FM hands down.
Keep it, maybe send for check and align to trusted service technician.
Mike

Yeah, could do that if I knew any reputable techs. Actually, I know two of them near me but they have retired and sold off their equipment.

I am a DIEHARD ICOM MAN but my First HF radio was a NEW Yaesu FT-990 back in 1995.It's not up to what my ICOM 7600 or ICOM 746,or ICOM 7000 but it's far better than ANY CB Radio that's ever been produced no matter the brand or model.I am shocked that you would even have to give it any thought at all when the FT-990 does things that Stryker can't even imagine doing even with every Mod possible. It's like asking a Dog if he wants a Steak Bone or a Steak with the bone still in it. Keep the STEAK with the bone & throw the old bone Away.

A 40 meter/80 meter Vertical takes up very little room & some do not even require a ground radial system.Lots of options for antennas for most any band if it's worth the money & effort to you.GAP makes some very good verticals.

I can appreciate that, but I have no ticket and have no desire to get one. So, spending the money for multiple antennae just to listen seems a bit foolish. This is why I am considering the sale. I fully understand the quality difference between the radios, but, what good are all the features, bells, whistles if theyre never put to use? It's kinda like owning an electric car and living off the grid.

As a guy that enjoys 11 meters and HF as well and has numerous 11 meter stuff and HF rigs I would not get rid of the 990. It's paid for and not eating any thing so the cost of keeping it is 0. Yes it has bells and whistles that u usually don't use but knobs and buttons are fun to play with lol.
LOL, you have a point, there. I'm always concerned about electronics sitting idle. You know, climate variances, etc. I suppose I could leave it on the bench and just power it up now and then and leave it for a few hours to warm it up and dry it out.

My first thought was the i.r.s. may be interested in a long term money making scam without proper taxes being paid..probably more than electronics involved.

My first thought was why hasn't someone paid him a visit. I mean, his address is posted above.

Good news! I opened an appeal case after eBay sided with superhawkwss6. I also opened an IC3 case & sent that information to eBay. Within an hour they responded, reversed their decision and returned all of my money. Unfortunately, superhawkwss6 stole my CB radio and eBay will likely not suspend or close his account, but rather allow him to continue his criminal activity. I think I'll still file a report with our sheriff's dept (the sheriff is a friend of mine) though I know this type of crime isn't worth their time. This guy needs to be stopped and I'm certainly going to do my best to make that happen.
