My 929 has a place on the board for a second final. Besides the final itself, what else is required to make this mod? I have Googled this to no end, searched Ebay, cbtricks, and even this forum to find absolutely zip. I have found modified radios for sale, but no kit or explanation of 'how to' make this happen. Am I looking in the wrong places? Help. Thanks.

Galaxy DX 929 dual mosfet finals?

There are kits on Ebay that do just what you are proposing. Try looking for mods on installing dual finals in a 949/959, get schematics of both the 929 and the 949 and look for the differences... not much really. Also you can get a schematic for a Galaxy 2517 MOSFET version and see how Galaxy installs them from the factory. The RF sections of all of these radios are not that much different. Pick your poison, procure the parts and let us know how it works out.
If you have not seen it already this may be a little inspiration for you. I believe after tuning he was seeing 150 + watts YouTube - Galaxy 959 with a 2290 Final Section Retrofit
Seems kind of stupid to do that extensive mod to a $150 radio when you can just add a 2 pill amp of your choosing. 150 watts out of a SINGLE 2290 is not possible.
