Icom IC-7000

I was ready to Buy a 706mkIIg...But now thats on hold...I heard these may be out by late Aug ?? Should be around 1200-1500 is what I am hearing....Just wish it had the antenna tuner in it for that much $$$. I also wished that Icom would of put in a nice Noise Blank in it..But we shall see...Peace Yota

Tuner

Getting a "tuner" in a package that small would be nice, but difficult. Prolly not enough inductance/Capactance to match. If you like tuners, check out www.ldgelectronics.com. They have some excellent external tuners that are pretty amazing at a reasonable price. They are controllable by most radios via the radio's front panel (or the tuner itself). I'm pretty happy with mine.

I like my 706's a lot (two of them). One complaint I have always had with them was the squelch on FM. Not enough hysteresis (squelch delay). The squelch is "hard"--on or off with no in between. If you set it to stop the popping, you miss weak signals. Try to set at a threshold, and it pops and pops in and out. Very annoying. I hope that fix that with the 7000. :?
