im in the same boat. I have one that was made for 11 meters. Want to add coils or a roller. did you get it done
When I first replied to this thread, I did not realize that it was almost a year old.
The thing about 4-1000 amplifiers is that they are BIG, the tube needs 4000+ volts on the plate and the filament requirements are great. I worked on a couple a few years back and the thing that strikes me most is the need for huge components.
IMHO, the idea of multi-banding an amp that was designed and constructed with a 4-1000 for single band operation really needs to be thought out well by the owner and the person committing themselves to take on this project.
You will need band switching components rated at 4000+ volts, multiple tank coils, fixed or vacuum tuners and input tuning for each band also. That's a lot of parts and effort to install them; is there enough room or will the whole thing need to be repackaged?
Expect to pay money in advance, come out of your pocket with big money for parts, have a long wait and, when it's delivered, expect to hear occasional pops and snaps when you key it down.
Rhetorical question: Why don't you take it back to the person who built it?
