Getting ready to install my Grant lt and had a wiring question. What gauge wire are you all running for power? I plan on installing a fuseable link in so it will go directly from the radio to the battery, just don't know what kind of power wire to run.

10 gauge will suport any normal radio you use and will work for something larger like a Galaxy 95T.You can go to a smaller wire but why not go ahead and run the big stuff incase you deside to go to a bigger radio latter on.As far as what size i use,Im running more than one amp and a lot more power and i need big wire so the amps get all the juce the need.Im using 2 gauge just to make sure.

10ga wire is waaaay overkill for a CB. A Grant LT tuned up will do around 25 watts? 18 or 22 ga wire is fine.

As long as you are going to the battery, then wire both pos and neg to the battery. Use an in-line fuse holder -- it makes a neater installation than a fusible link. Parts Express has several kinds:

If you are going to use 10-ga wire then Parts Express has heat rated 10-ga wire with 400 strands. This is very supple and much easier to install than the Home Depot wire which is like 6 strands and stiff as a board. Scroll down to the 10-ga power wire:

Another quick and dirty option is the Little Fuse Add-a-Circuit, which is in the first link.

I just purchased a skywalker 300 watt amp, what gauge power wire should I use? also, does anyone know what the amp draw will be with this amp?

ARE YOU RUNNING POWER OR JUST A RADIO jEFF?

he said a 25w radio does not need 10ga. he is correct.
what does it draw? 2a - 5a? If that is all you have it will work fine.
