s-meter

I have a Uniden Grant that the S-meter neither moves nor lights up.Does anyone have any pointers as to repairing this ? I did connect the 2 wires to an s-meter I took off a swr/mod meter and it did not move.

ron,does it read on TX? AM or SSB,deadkey/swing of any kind? Also,are you sure you're putting the SRF/CAL/SWR switch in the proper setting? one more thing,could be the VR

pot has been turned down so as not to show any reading.

no light;i would put a VOM on the wire leads and check for voltage.(12VDC approx)

also,a different meter may/or may not work w/that radio!

many radios have different "values" for their respective meters.

This is the plain Grant with no swr calibration.It doesn't move at all. Just dead and no light.

It sounds like a dead meter. I have several meters here and you would be welcome to have one. I would just need to know what size and so forth. The light is probavly just burned out and I could send you one of those as well.

i agree w/fasteddy. did you check the VR pots to see if they've been turned down ron? also,are you saying the meter doesn't work in any mode?(TX or RX)
