Seek help with old Turner JM+2U mic & Midland setup?

I have an old Turner JM+2U from when I was a kid. This weekend past I picked up an old "new in box" Midland 77-155 CB at a garage sale and was wondering how the wires are supposed to be set up in the mic connector. Actually, I don't even know if I can use it on there at all 'cause the CB has a "Mic Gain" knob on it. Does that do the same as a powermic? Should I bother installing the mic?

Sorry if the questions seem a little stupid, but I haven't touched a CB since only a few years after they went to 40 channels!

Thanks for any help.

The Turner will work fine with that radio. You will have to turn down the mic. gain on radio (about half way for starters)and adjust to what sounds the best. Let me walk you through wiring the mic. You will need a volt/ohm meter for this, 1) with radio off, using ohm meter, touch one lead to ground and the other lead to mic pins on radio till you find a short (meter moves all the way over) This will be the pin for the shield wire. 2) Turn radio on and meter set to volts. one lead to ground and the other to the pins till you show voltage. This will be the pin for transmit. Now on the mic. 1) Using ohm meter touch one lead to the shield wire and check the other wires for a short. This will be the recieve wire. 2) Still using ohm meter and still touching one lead to the shield.Key the mic.and touch the other wires left until you show a short again, This will be your transmit wire. 3) The wire and pin left will be your audio (usually a white wire) I hope I got this right Hope this helps

Thanks Hook!

I soldered on a connector on my lunch break today. Going on a trip Monday and really wanted it together by then.

Thank again for the info.
