this radio used to make about 16 watts on SSB, recently it will only swing to about 8 watts on SSB, I checked the power, and the D104 battery, all good, radio is just weak.

do finals go out like this, a slow decline, or is something else the problem?

oh yeah I tried 2 different antennas and its the same story.

any ideas or help is appreciated, what final is in this radio, can I just desolder and install another?

Matt,

Yes the final in the radio could be bad. Every thing else is OK just low power? It still modulates and sounds the same? Then it probably is the final. A 2SC1969 is a replacemant. If you need one let me know as I have a bunch.
