Dont piss around just get the Texas Star 500 non variable and run that S9 into it that 40 watts isnt going to hurt it aslong as you keep the amplifier cool meaning AD A FAN there cheap and make the difference between life and death of an amplier Ive run my HF rigs into my Texas Star 500's with power between 40 and 50 watts SSB but AM back it way down 2-4 watts dead key ide stay around 2--3 watts and 20-25 watts forward swing.
Yeah and I never thought about it but if your an AM user only then a class C amplifier would be your best bet you would most likely save a little money if going that route aswell if you are not a SSB user and dont care how SSB sounds or
its not of importance.
I would like to thank everybody that posted on S-9 which AMP subject, there was a lot of good food for thought, I spent the money and got the TS500 and it will just fit where I want to place it where I wll beable to use the preamp from my driving position in the rig.......Oldtimer
