I've tried a few external scanner antennas and the best so far has been useing just a copper wire across the dash tucked in at the base of the windshield.<img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/goodluck.gif ALT=":good">

that depends on what you want to listen to, i find a diamond or watson triband antenna for vhf/uhf far outperforms any scanning antenna, if your not bothered about 50mhz then a dual band antenna does the job real good, if you want to be discrete then one of the micromag dual banders works ok.

I have a maxrad scanner antenna and it works great or you can use your cars antenna it works well too

The magmount Radio Shack antenna sucks.

Hustler has some great scanner antennas. I would stay away from the RS antennas.
