    VOX features on 11 meter

The new President George had VOX. Maybe some of the other President radio's too. I have a Lincoln 2 that has VOX and used a Samson wireless airline mic and it worked. VOX will work on stock mic but a corded mic defeats the purpose.

    What desk mic to use?

That's a nice mic! I really never looked at that one til now. That would work on the Lincoln radio being it needs 5v to power it. A pricey mic but it's really like you get 2 mics, (condenser and dynamic mic elements) plus EQ and other features but some of those only work on Yaesu radio's...

    What desk mic to use?

That mic has runs off an external 9v battery. The Lincoln supplies 5v on pin 6. That wire on pin 6 needs to be disconnected. Then it should be ok.

    What desk mic to use?

Those Chinese President radios use electret mics so what ever mic you use, be sure NOT to wire up pin 6 which carries 5v current. Ham radio electret mics I know of require 8v so those may not work too good on President radio's. You could use some ingenuity and power an electret Icom SM-30 to a...

    PL259 Teflon, white center?

The yellowish tan I recall were the Amphenol. These are real good as long that you buy the genuine brand. I buy my silver/teflon connectors from American Radio too and they've all been teflon. Legitimate silver/teflon are very good too and less expensive. I would be wary of the cheaper...

    Water in coax

I switched over to N connectors for all my outside connections. These aren't completely water tight but are more water resistant than PL-259's. They also make a far better electrical connection because the center pin doesn't get intermittent over time with wear and they don't rely on the torque...

    My updated shack!

DXE sells the rotor platform but it was out of stock when I was looking for them. I bought the same pair direct from a company in Germany for fifty bucks cheaper with shipping. I also bought the thrust bearings from them which were priced good and to be sure they matched up with the platform...

    My updated shack!

The rotor is the Yaesu G800-DXA and I use the Hy Gain YRC-1 rotor controller which provides both manual and computer control that works with many rig and rotor control software programs I use like HRD, N1NM Logger, and PstRotatorAZ. I ony wish I had the antenna at least 45 feet! The sound...

Mobile Different models of Firestick Antennas

Firesticks are CB antennas designed for the CB band and only have a fine tuning range for CB channels. Your Wilson antenna has a more adjustable whip so it can retune to some frequencies above or below the CB band. There is no single mobile antenna that can do it all without retuning. A full...

    High swr reading

If antenna height isn't an issue, a single antenna is omni directional and easier to tune and coax feed. It's also better as a mobile because 2 antennas give a front to back hour glass radiation pattern where a weaker side to side signal will occur. I would run the 1 antenna dead center of...
