It all come down to how much isolation there is in the switch between the two or more positions. The Alpha Delta switches are rated quite well for this. I use a 4 position Alpha Delta to switch between different HF rigs. I do not ever have more than one rig on at any time however.

If your rig already has VOX designed into it there isn't much to getting it set up really. Set the VOX gain and anti-trip. You probably will need to experiment a little to get that adjusted right. When mobile probably the biggest thing is having the mic close to your mouth without holding it...

You can get a set of air horns that are easy to install from most automotive supply stores. They are inexpensive and plenty loud! I have a set of them ready to put in my Silverado. I have had them in other trucks for many years. Just haven't got to it yet.
